Full Circle Garden...

began in 2009 as a 100 x 100 square foot plot of barren earth. Today it is a bountiful garden supplying over 2 tons of food to the South Hadley Food Pantry. The garden consists of varying perennial and annual crops as well as an herb garden, flowers and privately maintained plots. The garden is managed by a volunteer staff of  gardeners. Throughout the growing season, approximately 30 individuals work at the garden in various capacities. Under the direction of master gardeners, there are scheduled work days that involve large crews of up to a dozen. There is also a crew of harvesters that work twice weekly to pick, pack and deliver vegetables to the pantry and there are volunteers that schedule weekly hours providing garden maintenance support. The South Hadley Youth Commission provides high school interns and many community gardeners give their time and skill to this undertaking in many ways, both planned and spontaneous.
